Since his operatic debut, acclaimed tenor John Duykers has appeared with many of the leading opera companies of the world including The Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Royal Opera Convent Garden, Santa Fe Opera, and Los Angeles Opera.
John Duykers is a prominent American tenor best known for his work in modern and contemporary opera. He is internationally known for his portrayal of more than 160 operatic characters. Opera enthusiasts know him best from his role of Chairman Mao in John Adam’s Nixon in China, the role of Older Calileo in Philip Glass’ Galileo Galilei and the role of The Visitor in Glass’ In the Penal Colony.
John is the Co-Founder of First Look Sonoma which produces and presents new vocal performance art and develops opportunities for emerging performance artists to produce and stage new works.
